Meet our Newest Community Manager Anastasiya Bila

Our community management team just keeps growing bigger and bigger! We are pleased to announce that we’re adding one more to the team. Say hello to Anastasiya Bila, more known as “Obezianka”, as she joins the team and adds a much needed girl firepower to our pool of Community Managers.

Just like how current CMs were introduced before, we did an interview with Ana so the community can get to know her better.

XSplit Community Managers

Tell us what you’ve been doing prior to joining the XSplit team

Before XSplit, I was a full time content creator on Twitch at twitch.tv/obezianka. I also run an online jewelry store.

How do you feel about becoming a part of the XSplit Team?

My whole streaming career has always been centered around helping others grow and facilitate the learning of everything from communication, community building and streaming programs. XSplit and Player.me give me the opportunity to continue doing what I love without taking away my individuality. It’s a dream come true.

What do you think is the most interesting part about the video production and streaming community?

How interconnected and alive all of this is. Content creators strive to tell a story and make themselves and others happy. Streamers help uplift one another and grow. Streaming programs help make streaming seamless and intuitive. Everything in the streaming and video production world exist to make growth easier and opportunity accessible to all. We’re truly in a Golden age of streaming.

What additional awesome-ness do you think you can bring to the table for us.

Canada has a population of 35 Million as of my writing this.  If we compare this to Tokyo city (13.5 M), California State (38 M) or the total population of the Philippines (98M) it seems that I don’t have much work to do. Therefore I intend to slack off.

Just Kidding.
To the XSplit community management team I bring my sense of humor (very important), fluency in French as well as Russian languages and a much needed female representation.

I look forward to working with you all. Thank you for welcoming me with such warmth.

Humble Bundle Streamers Edition

We’ve worked with Humble Bundle in the previous years as some of you may know and we felt making XSplit part of their awesome bundles have been great for us and the community. So it’s a no-brainer for us to take part of their bundle themed to live streaming when the opportunity presented itself!

Introducing the Humble Bundle Streamers Edition

XSplit Stream and Record Your Gameplay

A 3-month XSplit Premium is part of their middle tier package. Not only do you get the Premium license but you also get with other cool games and software that you can use for live streaming. How cool is that?

Windows 10 Update Issues (KB4013429)

UPDATE: March 21, 02:00 AM PST

Microsoft just released an update for Windows 10 to address the issue discussed in this blog post. Please check more information about the update.

UPDATE (Technical): March 16, 12:28 PM PST

We just got a chance to do a remote session with one of the affected users. It seems that something as simple as  just adding Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder filter to Graphedit crashes GraphEdit (both 32 and 64 bit) with following call stack (also pointing to CompPkgSup.dll). Replacing CompPkgSup.dll with an older version fixes the problem, but we do not recommend this. Until we get a better solution from Microsoft, then uninstalling the latest Win 10 update (KB4013429) is probably the recommended way to go for affected users who need to get XSplit running again.

We will continue to update you as we learn more about the issue or if new information from Microsoft comes out.

—————-

We have had several users reporting crash issues when opening XSplit after having installed Windows 10 March 14, 2017—KB4013429 (OS Build 14393.953)

We have noted other software out there with similar issues after the Windows 10 update.

This crash seem to point to CompPkgSup.dll. We are still tracking down the issue, and will report to Microsoft when we have been able to reproduce internally.

We have some indications that it might happen only on systems that was updated from Windows 7, but we’re still trying to verify this information.

The only workaround we are currently aware of to resolve the issue for affected users is to Uninstall KB4013429 update or restore from restore point

After uninstalling the update, Windows may re-install it again because Windows 10 will always kept up to date with the latest features and fixes. Here is how to temporarily prevent a Windows Update from reinstalling in Windows 10.

This is not ideal, but this is the best information we can give at this point while we are still trying to reproduce in our own lab.

We will update this post with more information as soon as we have it.

XSplit Product Manager Sp00ky Stream Lecture

We’re pleased to announce that XSplit product manager Victor “Spooky” Fontanez will be giving a talk at this coming GDC2017. In his upcoming lecture entitled “Best Practices & Tips for Producing Awesome First-Party Streams to Grow Your Community”, Sp00ky discusses the best methods, common challenges, and tips to aid in the production of successful first-party developer streams.

Victor Fontanez Stream Lecture

As a key member of the fighting game community, Sp00ky has been a pioneer of live streaming tournaments and events, and since joining XSplit as product manager, Victor uses his breadth of experience in the market to work closely with the XSplit product team, as well as with external game developers and publishers to bring new features and improvements to the platform.

As first-party streaming becomes an increasingly common trend for developers to utilize to connect with audiences across platforms such as Twitch, Sp00ky’s talk will aim to empower attendees to conduct their own first-party broadcasts and to connect with their current and future audience more directly.

Level up your live stream with XSplit Bootcamp

As makers of the most popular live streaming and recording solution, we’re involved in different types of work outside of improving XSplit such as exhibiting at conventions, providing production assistance to some big brands, getting involved in the community through meetups and parties, etc. One that is not mentioned a lot is doing workshops and presentations for upcoming and intermediate content creators.

Enter XSplit Bootcamp, a program in partnership with YouTube Gaming centered around learning the basics of live streaming straight from our experienced staff members. Whether it’s getting the necessary equipment, setting things up, interacting with your audience, XSplit Bootcamp covers all of that. As a matter of fact we’ve been doing this since last year and we’re only looking forward to do more for this year.

For details of upcoming workshops or if you want to take part of one near your area, go visit bootcamp.xsplit.com.

  • XSplit Version 2.9 ReleasePosted: December 1 2016

Our XSplit 2.8 release was well-received thanks to some kickass new features like unlimited scene support, global sources, new plugin store and a refreshed user interface among many other things. With XSplit 2.9, we worked on adding even more features as well as making improvements on the existing ones based on all the feedback you gave us.

We want to announce this version release a little different and instead of going through each of the new features in text as we normally do in the past, we had our product manager, Victor Fontanez aka Spooky go through each of them in a video so you can see them all in action.

See our version update policy for more details.

XSplit Version Updates and Fixes

We generally only support versions of XSplit which can be downloaded via our webpage.

We use the following version numbering: [Major] [Minor] [Patch]

We always support a minimum of two stable release versions in our website, but once a new patch is released to one of the two stable release versions, the older release version will be replaced. Once we release a new minor (or major) version of XSplit we always leave the previous latest minor version.

If your receive this update prompt, it is because the version of XSplit that you are using is no longer supported. Sometime service endpoint or API changes, or we may have found issues that have been patched, so we want to make sure that users are using a version of XSplit which is supported and maintained.

If you are having any issue with the latest release version of XSplit, you can always go back to XSplit.com and download the latest previous stable release version. Here’s a screenshot:

XSplit Broadcaster download version

Starting XSplit 3.0, we have also created release pages for both XSplit Broadcaster and XSplit Gamecaster which contain some highlights for the said release. Those pages will be updated continuously going forward when we release version updates.

Example:

At the time of this writing the supported release versions of XSplit Broadcaster are versions 2.9.1701.1615 and 2.8.1607.1952

If we ship a 2.9.[patch>1701.1615], then 2.9.1701.1615 will be replaced and no longer supported  OR

If we ship 3.0.x then 2.8.1607.1952 will be replaced and no longer supported OR

If we ship 2.8.[patch >1607.1952] then 2.8.1607.1952 will be replaced an no longer supported
